The sixth edition of the Puerto Vallarta-Bahía de Banderas Ruta Turística, a long-distance cycling event, will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. Starting and finishing at the Puerto Vallarta maritime terminal, the route caters to cyclists of varying experience levels with three distance options.
Organizers have designated the event as the region’s premier recreational cycling experience. All Ruta Turística participants will have easy access to hydration stations and mechanical assistance along the scenic route.
“This recreational ride promotes cycling and fosters camaraderie among cyclists from across Mexico and beyond,” stated Roberto Palacios, event organizer. “Join us for this cycling celebration in paradise on the 23rd!”
The 21-kilometer Green Route is suitable for families, beginners, and wheelchair users. Beginning at Puerto Mágico, cyclists will travel south before turning around at the Agustín Flores Contreras sports complex, then on to the Las Juntas intersection, and finally back to Puerto Mágico. The entire ride should last around 2 1/2 hours.
The 72-kilometer Black Route is designed for intermediate cyclists, reaching La Cruz de Huanacaxtle in Bahía de Banderas before looping through Nuevo Nayarit on the return trip. The estimated time for this ride is 4 hours.
The most challenging option, the 100-kilometer Red Route, targets advanced cyclists. This route extends to Punta de Mita and incorporates a section of Nuevo Nayarit on the return, with an estimated completion time of six hours.
Registration is now open on the event website and closes on Friday, March 22nd. Registration fees vary, but all include a Participant Kit that consists of a shirt and a commemorative medal, a participant number, and entry in a raffle for a TREK bicycle. https://banderasnews.com/
