Puerto Vallarta Open Set For April 30 to May 5, 2018
Puerto Vallarta will be hosting the first edition of the Puerto Vallarta Open on April 30 to May 5, 2018. The Jalisco Secretary of Tourism in conjunction with the Puerto Vallarta Trust along with much teamwork and effort, Puerto Vallarta is on the Association of Tennis Professionals’ 2018 Challenger Tour calendar.
The Puerto Vallarta Open will feature the best-of-three formats in single and doubles matches and will have a price of $75,000 USD and ATP ranking. The tournament will be played on the new outdoor hard court surface at Parque Parota. The courts were built to accommodate the tournament and the international requirements of the ATP.
Parque Parota is located at Avenida Francisco Medina Ascencio LB S/N, Fluvial Vallarta.
The ATP has a long history with Puerto Vallarta. In 1994 its first Challenger tournaments was hosted for the ATP Challenger Tour and from 1996 to 1998 for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
From 2000 to 2010 Puerto Vallarta held the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Tournaments. Legends and tennis greats Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King, Vasek Pospisil and Santiago Gonzalez Torre all have played here.
