Puerto Vallarta Tightens Security for Day of Dead Celebrations
In preparation for the upcoming Day of the Dead celebrations, Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for enhanced security measures. At least 200 members of the Citizen Security Directorate will be stationed to protect cemeteries and popular recreational areas in this vibrant tourist destination.
Commissioner Rigoberto Flores Parra, the official in charge of this security operation, announced that preparations are well underway, with the operation set to kick off at the end of this month. “We have strategically organized this operation, with personnel starting their duties on the 30th,” Flores Parra stated, emphasizing a substantial police presence along the tourist strip in the Malecón area.
For the pivotal dates of November 1st and 2nd, often referred to as the “strong days” of the celebration, Commissioner Flores Parra detailed plans for a special security operation in the cemeteries. “We will be closely monitoring the cemeteries, drawing from our past experiences, and focusing on November 2nd, the primary day of the celebration. As a result, we have deployed over 200 security personnel across eight cemeteries, with the 5 de Diciembre pantheon, the El Progreso neighborhood pantheon, and the Ramblases pantheon being of particular importance.”
Notably, this year’s Day of the Dead festivities in Puerto Vallarta will feature a series of artistic and cultural events along the tourist strip, providing enjoyment for both locals and visitors.
