This momentum isn’t solely propelled by holiday cheer. School vacations and escape from the harsh winter abroad are keeping the beaches buzzing and restaurants bustling. Even after a slight dip in the first week of January, hotels were reporting a robust 85% occupancy as of January 2nd. “Expect numbers to shoot back above 90% soon,” Cázares predicts, a familiar pattern for the bustling resort town.
Cázares also celebrated the city’s success in the international cruise tourism segment, citing the arrival of over 540 thousand passengers in 2023 – an increase from the previous year. Moreover, the new year commenced on a positive note with the first double arrival of cruise ships recorded on January 2, drawing large numbers of passengers to explore the heart of Puerto Vallarta.
