Pre-Flight COVID Testing in Your Villa
The CDC requires that anyone entering the United States must provide proof of a negative COVID test administered no more than 72 hours prior to arrival.
Casa Bay Villas will arrange with our Concierge Service Mexitravels for a doctor to come to your villa 72-hours prior to departure to administer the test and provide the documentation that is required to present to your airline for entry to the U.S.

Recently, the US government updated travelers’ requirements to enter the country due to COVID. The CDC now requires that anyone entering the United States must have proof of a negative COVID test, either PCR or Antigen, administered no more than 72 hours prior to arrival.
Casa Bay Villas will arrange with our Concierge Service Mexitravels to make arrangements for a doctor to come to your villa 72-hours prior to your departure to administer the test and provide the documentation (either paper or electronic are acceptable) that is required for entry to the U.S.
Both the PCR and Antigen can detect the virus and are accepted by the U.S. government for re-entry to the USA. Below is some useful information to ease the process and decide which will be the best test for you.
PCR Test
PCR is one of the most common tests to detect COVID obtained with a swab into the nose. It’s the most accurate test because it can detect the virus’s DNA with a small number of copies of the virus inside the sample, however, it takes longer to obtain the results. The processing time for results usually takes between 24 and 48 hours and it is more expensive than the Antigen test.
Antigen Test
The Antigen test is advantageous as it is faster than PCR to obtain results and costs less, however, it is also less accurate. This test detects antigens (proteins of the virus’s capsule are the most common antigens). When you take the sample, you just need to add antibodies that detect the antigens, and if there is a reaction, it means that the sample has the virus. The sample processing takes a maximum of 4 hours once the sample is in the laboratory so results can be obtained on the same day the sample is taken.
For the doctor to come to the villa and administer the test the cost is approximately $3000 pesos ($158.00 USD) for each test and the doctor fee approximately $1000 pesos ($53.00) which can be divided among the number of guests staying in your villa and being tested.
What if you recently recovered from COVID-19?
If you have had COVID-19 and a positive viral test in the past 3 months and now test negative and have met the criteria to end isolation, you can travel with a copy of your positive test result and a letter from your doctor or health department that states you have been cleared for travel.
How will Casa Bay Villas assist with this process?
Prior to your arrival date, Casa Bay Villas will have our Concierge Service, Mexitravels contact you via email and forward information regarding the test choices, including costs, and schedule your appointment at the villa you are staying at prior to your departure.
Note that we test all employees for COVIE-19 prior to guest arrivals and any team member that tests positive or shows symptoms is not allowed to come to work until treated and retested. We have Gold-Level Standards for our testing.
